Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) Samba Support

Problem

After saving your password to the Keychain, you get the following error message when trying to reconnect:

The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'smb://(windows machine)' could not be read or written Error Code -36

Solution

On the main top menu click Go and from the drop down menu select Utilities. Once in utilities click on Keychain Access.

Once in Keychain Access select the SMB entry. Then go to Edit on the top Keychain Access menu and from the drop down menu select Delete.

When done, exit the Keychain Access window.

Now try to reconnect to Samba. On the main top menu select Go and from the drop down menu select Connect to Server. If the sever address is already present click Connect, if not type smb://smb.cs.toronto.edu/CSLab_username

When prompted re-enter your Username and Password and check the Remember this Password in my Keychain box.
